The legs are finished with three rows of fine pintucking, followed by an intricate band of circular whitework embroidery and delicate lace edging. The waist fastens with buttons at both sides and is softly gathered at the back with its original adjustable cotton ties, a lovely example of construction from the era before elastic became common.
